Position Overview:

SLAC’s Facilities and Operations Division manages one of the world’s premier science facilities on a 400-acre Stanford site with 150+ structures for the Department of Energy. We are a service organization committed to the support and success of the Laboratory's Scientific Mission by providing safe and responsive engineering, construction, operations and maintenance of equipment, buildings, and infrastructure.

We are seeking a highly qualified Crane Compliance Coordinator with a background in facility services contract management, vendor coordination, and effective oversight of daily operations and management of the Crane Program.

This position reports to the Senior Manager - Fleet, Transportation & Labor Pool.

Your responsibilities will include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Manage compliance of all Cranes inclusive of certifications, inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance

  • Supervise field work for compliance with work, planning and control (WPC) and Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) requirements.

  • Generate Job Safety Analysis (JSA), coordinate Pre Job-Briefing (PJB) task and signoff documents for work authorization requirements.

  • Identify and evaluate potential new observed hazards and implement controls as needed.

  • Coordinate and conduct lock out / tag outs of field equipment.

  • Create dashboards to generate actionable data from Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for teams to use to build and plan their day-to-day activities.

  • Develop, maintain, and publish ad-hoc reporting and analysis for leadership.

  • Implement recommendations to enhance operational efficiency, service delivery, cost savings, and innovative services for data management and reporting functions.

  • Track assets for proper documentation, including proactive data audits to identify errors in reporting and presenting solutions to managers for corrective actions.

  • Conduct weekly calibration audits and coached vendor partners on their deviations.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to remove any process gaps; including identification of deficiencies and provide solution/s

  • Perform and oversee all phases of field inspection and quality assurance for all work-related activities.

  • Oversee and manage assigned staff, including other supervisors/managers, engaged in facilities management or building/equipment maintenance.

  • Oversee the daily operation and management of assigned facilities and programs, including scheduling and assigning work to staff and coordinating with staff, subcontractors, and/or vendors; overseeing staffing and performance evaluation of assigned staff; contributing to department or division staffing needs forecast.

  • Manage and coordinate employee improvement and training requirements.

  • Track budget for area of responsibility, and provide time and workforce needs and estimates to higher level management based on cost analyses, ensuring work is completed according to stipulated price and agreement.

  • Monitor the work of subcontractors, document and report all contractor deficiencies to Senior Manager - Fleet, Transportation & Labor Pool

  • Other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this position you will bring:

  • A combination of education, training and experience performing responsibilities similar to those listed above.

  • Experience planning, directing, and coordinating maintenance activities in the field, inclusive of cranes.

  • Experience in electrical system and LOTO.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend construction documents, including plans, specifications, contracts, regulatory requirements, Request for Information (RFI), Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules etc.¿

  • Knowledge of environmental and safety rules, regulations, and policies.

  • Demonstrated experience managing service contracts.¿

  • Ability to coordinate daily activities including work scheduling, quality assurance, program validation, monitoring of maintenance activities, and supervision of personnel.

  • Demonstrated experience working with subcontractors/vendors and demonstrated ability to monitor project activities and ensure compliance with internal/external regulations.

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting policies.

  • Knowledge of environmental and safety rules, regulations, and policies. Ability to conduct job site inspections to ensure compliance.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions and communicate those instructions to others.

The expected pay range for this position is $88,000 - $124,000 per annum. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
